New App 12/23/15

We have found a new app related to our topic that we can use on our Chromebooks called "Floor Planner". Each of us are building a piece of a house so we can figure out our measurements and design for when we build our model. On this app, you can also see your design in 3-D which shows us what or design would look like in real life.

Week One- December 18,2015

This is the first day we were able to to start researching for our Genius Hour project. We have decided that our final product will be a model of a house. We drew a sketch of the house but we want to make our official drawing on blueprint paper. We originally thought of making a model of the school but then realized the difficulties of the mass number of rooms. To build our way up to making the house we learned that we should start out by making only one room to see how to set up the walls and try to build a roof to get a better understanding of roof  placement and where the most strength of walls should be. We will not include this room into our final project but we will use it as a reference when we are going through the process of putting up our walls. We had a struggle trying to figure out the materials of the walls and roof but we narrowed the list down to foam posters for walls and Popsicle sticks for the roof. Next week we will begin to put our reference room together. We will go to Michaels to get the supplies. We have not decided on the base of our large model building but for our reference building we will use another poster as a base. Next week we will research more on the architectural aspect and we will try to bring in the materials we need to make our reference model.
